Frank Luketich

Korean War veteran retired from Wetterau (Fox Grocery)

Frank Luketich, 79, of Beallsville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Washington Hospital, as a result of complications from heart surgery.

He was born March 16, 1932, in Ellsworth, a son of the late Michael and Mary Zalac Luketich.

Mr. Luketich was a 1951 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. His foreign service included serving in Japan.

In 1994, Mr. Luketich retired from Wetterau (Fox Grocery) after 35 years of service.

He was a member of the former Beallsville Presbyterian Church and attended Beallsville United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed gardening, camping, beach vacations, spending time with his family and telling stories to his grandchildren.

On June 26, 1954, in Winchester, Va., he married Georgia Ann Miller, who survives. They celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children: son Kevin Luketich (Pam) of Scenery Hill and daughter Kathy Hess (Scott) of Beallsville; seven grandchildren, Samuel, Michael and Nathaniel Luketich and Luke, Hanna, Sarah and Levi Hess; a brother, George Luketich of Bentleyville; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Luketich served as guardian to his nephew, Harold Alexander of Washington.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are four brothers, Mike, Andy, Tommy and Matthew Luketich, and three sisters, Catherine Alexander, Ann Simsak and Mary Luketich, who died in infancy.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, with Pastor James Markley officiating. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693-5120.
